Interesting book... well, half of it. One half is a very interesting review of all the things Carpenter heard and saw while he was in the white house painting is famous picture of the emancipation proclamation. The other half is a rehash of other (now) commonly known stories about Lincoln that is not exclusive to this book. So, for that, I deduct a star. Otherwise, very interesting and worth a read. ( )
