My LORD, A SI am inftructed by the Ancient Fathers to give the Title of Chief, or High-Priest to the Bishop. qui eft Summus Sacerdos : So my own Experience obliges me to acknowledge that your Lordship has been to me, as well as many others, a Gracious High-Prieft, who fhews great Compaffion toward the Ignorant, and on them that are out of the way. Your Lordship, as a good Shepherd, both by your felf, and Excellent Clergy, who are fubject to you, fhew a fuitable Zeal for bringing back the Sheep which have gone aftray, and you receive them with open Arms into the Church. It has been my great unhappinefs to have been so long engag'd in a woful Schifm, and to have taken upon me to Officiate as a Minifter, which I am now Convinced I had no right Call to do. I have publish'd my Retractation in the following Difcourfe, which contains the Chief Reafons of my coming out from among them, and my begging admission into the Church. This Difcourfe is my Sermon Preach'd at White-chappel, Corrected and Enlarg'd, with defign that my Acknowledgments might be more full, and the Difcourfe more usefull, if it shall please God to give his Bleffing, towards the Converfion of my late A 2 Brethren, The Dedication.
