*The Numbers prefixed to the several Days, (in the foregoing Calendar,) between the 21st Day of March and the 18th Day of April, both inclusive, denote the Days upon which those Full Moons do fall, which happen upon or next after the 21st Day of March, in those years, of which they are respectively the Golden Numbers; and the Sunday Letter next following any such Full Moon points out Easter-Day for that year. All which holds until the Year of our Lord 1899 inclusive; after which Year, the Place of these Golden Numbers will be to be changed, as is hereafter expressed.

FOR THE

MOVEABLE AND IMMOVEABLE FEASTS:

TOGETHER WITH THE

DAYS OF FASTING AND ABSTINENCE, THROUGH THE WHOLE YEAR.

RULES

To know when the Moveabie Feasts and Holy-Days begin.

ASTER-DAY, on which the rest depend, is always the first Sunday after the Full Moon

EASTER on on or next after the Twenty-first Day of March; and if the Full Moon

happen upon a Sunday, Easter-Day is the Sunday after.

Advent-Sunday is always the nearest Sunday to the Feast of St. Andrew, whether before or

I The Forty Days of Lent.

II. The Ember-Days at the Four Seasons,

BEING THE

Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday after

The First Sunday in Lent.
The Feast of Pentecost.
September 14, and December 13.

III. The three Rogation Days, being the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Holy Thursday, or the Ascension of our LORD.

IV. All the Fridays in the Year, except Christmas-Day.

In addition to the above, the first Thursday in November (or, if any other day be appointed by the Civil Authority, then such day) shall be observed as a Day of Thanksgiving to Almighty God, or the Fruits of the Earth, and all other Blessings of his merciful Providence.

TABLES FOR FINDING THE HOLY-DAYS.

A TABLE TO FIND EASTER-DAY,

FROM THE PRESENT TIME TILL THE YEAR 1899, INCLUSIVE.

HIS Table contains so much of the Calen

THIS

dar as is necessary for the determining of Easter; to find which, look for the Golden Number of the year in the first column of the Table, against which stands the day of the Paschal Full Moon; then look in the third column for the Sunday Letter, next after the day of the Full Moon; and the day of the month standing against that Sunday Letter is Easter-Day. If the Full Moon happen upon a Sunday, then (according to the first rule) the next Sunday after is Easter Day.

To find the Golden Number, or Prime, add 1 to the year of our Lord, and then divide by 19; the remainder, if any, is the Golden Num. ber; but if nothing remain, then 19 is the Golden Number.

To make use of the preceding Table, find the Sunday Letter for the Year in the uppermost line, and the Golden Number, or Prime, in the column of Golden Numbers, and against the Prime, in the same line, under the Sunday Letter, you have the Day of the Month on which EASTER falleth that year. But, NOTE, That the name of the Month is set on the left hand, or just with the figure, and followeth not as in other Tables, by descent, but collaterally.

A TABLE OF THE DAYS ON WHICH EASTER WILL FALL FOR THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS, BEING THE TIME OF TWO CYCLES OF THE MOON.
