NOTE.

THE following chapters were delivered as a Course of Cantor Lectures before the Society of Arts. The lectures were largely illustrated by specimens borrowed from the Parkes Museum of Hygiene, at University College, and the illustrations at the end of this book are a selection from those in the catalogue of that

museum.

It is hoped that the book may be useful as a short and practical exposition of the means by which dwelling houses may be made wholesome.
