The first revision of the Baltimore Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church was published in 1941, according to an announcement by the Episcopal Committee of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. Most of the answers of the old catechism, which has been widely used in parochial schools, have been simplified and modernized in terminology and treatment of subject matter. The Baltimore Catechism was published in 1891. The work of revision, under the guidance of the committee, was carried on for six years by scholars and by all the bishops of the American hierarchy.
