And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins;

As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the

the true light, which lighteth every man that 10 cometh into the world. He was in the world,

and the world was made by him, and the world 11 knew him not. He came unto his own, and 12 his own received him not. But as many as re

the sons of God, even to them that believe on 13 his name : Which were born, not of blood, nor

of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, 14 but of God. And the Word was made flesh, i.e.

became man, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begot

hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan, and were baptized of him in Jordan,

confessing their sins. Mark. . And there went out unto him all the land

of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan,

O generation of vipers, who hath warned

you to flee from the wrath to come? Mat. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and

Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them.
