faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall;
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew [their]
strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they
shall run and not be weary, [and] they shall walk and not
faint. Isai. xl. 28-31. Fear thou not; for I [am] with
thee; be not dismayed, for I [am] thy God: I will
strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold
thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isai. xli. 10.
Trust ye in the Lord for ever; for in the Lord Jehovah
[is] everlasting strength. Isai. xxvi. 4. And he said unto me,
My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made
perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather
glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me. 2 Cor. xii. 9. That he would grant you, ac-
cording to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened
with might by his Spirit in the inner man. Ephes. iii.
16. Strengthened with all might, according to his glo-
rious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joy-
fulness. Coloss. i. 11. Thou therefore, my son, be strong
in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 Tim. ii, 1. Notwith-
standing the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me:
that by me the preaching might be fully known, and [that]
all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the
mouth of the lion. 2 Tim. iv. 17. I can do all things through
Christ which strengtheneth me. Philipp. iv. 13.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore
of light. Rom. xiii. 12.
cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour

So went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord, and smote Job with sore boils, from the sole of his foot unto his crown. Job ii. 7. And he shewed me Joshua the high priest

standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. Zech. iii. 1. Now is the judgcipalities, against pow-ment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. John xii. 31. 13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,

sent, nor things to come. Rom. viii. 38. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son. Coloss. i. 13. [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly. Coloss. ii. 15.

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke xxi. 36. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephes. v. 15, 16. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Revelat. iii. 10. For the great day of his. wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand? Revelat. vi. 17.

hand, having done all, Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast,unmoveable, to stand. always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Cor. xv. 58. And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galat. vi. 9. 1 have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I háve kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Tim. iv. 7, 8. Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Heb. x. 35, 36. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried: and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelat, ii. 7, 10.

14. Stand therefore, i having your loins girt about with truth,

Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart. I Saml. xii. 24. [It is] God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' [feet,] and setteth me upon my high places. He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. Psalm xviii. 32, 33, 34, 39. Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth. Joshua xxiv. 14. Let your loins be girded about, and [your] lights burning. Luke xii. 35. (For the fruit of the Spirit

[is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth. Ephes. v. 9. Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Heb. x. 22. Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist, steadfast in the faith. 1 Peter v. 8, 9. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. I Peter i. 13.

For he put on righteousness as a breast-plate. Isai. lix. 17. But let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith and love. 1 Thess. v. 8.

Thy shoes [shall be] iron and brass; and as thy days, [so shall] thy strength [be.] Deut. xxxiii. 25. How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter. Solomon's Songs vii. 1. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put [it] on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on [his] feet. Luke xv. 22.

Hebr. xi. 33, 34. Whom resist, steadfast in the faith. 1 Peter v. 9. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John v. 4, 5.

17. And take the helmet of salvation, • And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head. Isai. lix. 17. And for an helmet, the hope of salvation. I Thess. v. 8.

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted of the devil. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered, and said, It is written. Matthew iii. 1, 3, 4. For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebr. iv. 12. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony: and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelat. xii. 11.

18. P Praying always with all prayer and supplication,

But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast [it] to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs cat of the crumbs which fall from their master's table. Matt. xv. 22-27. Mark vii. 25-28. And she [was] a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served [God] with fastings and prayers night and day. Imke ii. 37. And he spake a parable unto them [to this end,] that men ought always [to] pray, and not to faint. Luke xviii. 1. And he left them, and went away again and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Matth. xxvi. 44. And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly. Luke xxii. 44. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts i. 14. There was a man in Cesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian [band,] [A] devout [man,] and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. Acts x. 1, 2. Continuing instant in prayer. Rom. xii. 12. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philipp. iv. 6. Pray without ceasing. 1 Thess. v. 17.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 15, 26. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Jude 20. - Fatch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation : the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak. Matth. xxvi. 41. Take ye heed, watch and pray: : for ye know not when the time is. Mark xiii. 33. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke xxi. 36. Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. Coloss. iv. 2. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer 1 Peter iv. 7.

without fear, Philipp. i. 14. Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in [your] prayers to God for me. Rom. xv. 30.
