30. Let all bitterness and wrath, and anger,

we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. 2 Thess. iii. 7, 8, 10, 11, 12. And let ours also learn to maintain good works* for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. Titus iii. 14.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be

thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when
thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deut. vi. 6, 7.
The mouth of a righteous [man] is a well of life. The lips
of the wise disperse knowledge. The lips of the righteous
feed many. Prov. x. 11, 21, and xv. 7. A good man out
the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth good things.
Mat. xii. 35. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 1 Thess. v. 14. Finally, [be ye] all of one mind, having compassion one of another; love as brethren, [be] pitiful, [be] courteous. 1 Peter iii. 8. And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; .... and to temperance patience, And to godliness brotherly kindness. 2 Peter i. 5, 7. Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his Lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took [him] by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matt. v. 44, 45, 48. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and [to] the evil. therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another: as I have loved you, that ye also_love_one another. John xiii. 34. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John xv. 12, 13. Hereby perceive we the love [of God,] because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren. 1 John iii. 16. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 1 John iv. 10, 11.

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put [him] to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he shall prolong [his] days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. Isai. I lay down my life for the sheep.

Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt-offerings and [sacrifices] for sin thou hast had no pleasure: Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God. Above, when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burntofferings and [offering] for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure [therein;] which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo I come to do thy will, O God.
