CHAP. I.

14 Which is the fear nest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession,

sunto the praise of his glory. 15 h Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love nnto all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.

Comforter. Jo. xiv. 16, 26. When the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth. John xv. 26. If I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. John xvi. 7. Behold, I send the promise

of my Father upon you. Luke xxiv. 49. Being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Acts ii. 33. It shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh. Joel ii. 28. Wait for the promise of the Father which, [saith he,] ye have heard of me. Acts i. 4. That we might receive the promise of the Spirit thro' faith. Ga. iii. f Who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. And given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Cor. v. 5. i. 22. Ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. And if Children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. Ourselves also which have the firstruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption [to wit] the redemption of our body. Rom. viii. 15, 16, 23. Because ye are sons God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying ABBA, FATHER. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a Son; and if a son, then an heir of God. Galat. iv. 6, 7. Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephes. iv. 30. See on verse 6 (m) and verse 12 (a).

I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers. Rom. i. 8, 9. We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you. Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love [which ye have] to all the saints. Coloss. i. 3, 4. We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all We give

towards each other aboundeth. 2 Thes. i. 3. thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love. 1 Thes. i. 2, 3. I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; When I call to remembrance

mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ. Coloss. ii. 2. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. 2. Peter i. 2. Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Psalm cxix. 18. In that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. Isai. xxix. 18. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened. Isai. xxxv. 5. I the Lord have called Thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep Thee, and give Thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes. Isaiah xlii. 6,7. Then opened He their understanding that they might understand the scripture. Luke. xxiv. 45. Delivering thee from the people and [from] the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes [&] to turn [them] from darkness to light. Acts xxvi. 17, 18. But their minds were blinded; for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament: which [vail] is done away in Christ. 2. Cor. iii. 14. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor. iv. 6.

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. Acts. xxiv. 15. [There is] one body and one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling: Eph. iv. 4. If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and [be] not moved away from the hope of the Gospel, which ye have heard, [ard] which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister. Coloss. i. 23. Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Titus. ii. 13. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus. iii. 7. That by two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which [hope] we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil. Heb. vi. 18, 19. For the law made nothing perfect but the bringing in of a better hope [did;] by the which we draw nigh unto God. Hebr. vii. 19. Blessed [be] the God and

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which, according to his abundant mercy, hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Pet. i. 3. We know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself even as He is pure. 1 John. iii. 2, 3.

The Lord knoweth the days of the upright; and their inheritance shall be for ever. Psalm xxxvii. 18. The Lord [is] the portion of mine inheritance. Psalm xvi. 5. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the Lord. Isai. liv. 17. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Ephes. iii. 20. It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [His] good pleasure. Philip. ii. 13. Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness. Coloss. i. 11. Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. Coloss. i. 29.

The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand,

not ascended into the heavens; but he saith himself, the Lord said unto my Lord, sit thou on my right hand, until I make thy foes thy footstool. Acts. ii. 34. 35. Him hath God exalted with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Acts. v. 31. Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Acts. vii. 56. Seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Coloss. iii. 1. Who, being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person; and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebr. i. 3 We have such an High-Priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens. Hebr. viii. 1. him a name which is above every name: That at the name t Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth. Phil. ii. 9, 10. Ye are complete in Him which is the head of all principality and power. Coloss. ii. 10. Unto the angels hath He not put in subjection the world to come whereof we speak. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour. Hebr. ii. 5, 9. Angels and Authorities and powers being made subject unto Him. 1 Peter. iii. 22. u Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of

thy hands; thou hast put all [things] under his feet. Psalm. viii. 6. I saw in the night visions, and, behold [one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed. Daniel. vii. 13. 14. All things are delivered unto me of my Father. Matth. xi. 27. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matth. xxviii. 18.
