serve the Lord with gladness, and come before his presence with a song.

Be ye sure that the Lord he is God; it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves: we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and speak good of his Name.

For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth from generation to generation.

THE King shall rejoice in thy strength O Lord: exceeding glad shall he be of thy salvation: glory and great worship hast thou laid upon him: thou hast presented him with the blessing of goodness, and hast set a crown of pure gold upon his head: glory and great worship hast thou laid upon him.

ANTHEM XIV.

Taken from 57th Psalm.

AWAKE up my glory, awake, lute and harp: I myself will awake right early.

I will give thanks unto the Lord among the heathen, and I will sing unto thee among the nations.

For the greatness of thy mercy reacheth unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

Set up thyself, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth.

ANTHEM XV.

Taken from 98th Psalm.

O SING unto the Lord a new song, for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand and his holy arm hath gotten him the victory.

The Lord hath made known his salvation, his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

I SAID I will take heed to my ways: that I offend not in my tongue:

I will keep my mouth as it were with a bridle: while the ungodly is in my sight.

I held my tongue and spake nothing: I kept silence, yea, even from good words, but it was pain and grief to me.

My heart was hot within me, and while I was thus musing, the fire kindled: and at last I spake with my tongue;

Lord, let me know my end, and the number of my days: that I may be certified how long I have to live.

Behold! thou hast made my days as it were a span long: and mine age is even as nothing in respect of thee; and verily every man living is altogether vanity.

For man walketh in a vain shadow, and disquieteth himself in vain: he heapeth up riches, and cannot tell who shall gather them.

And now, Lord, what is my hope: truly my hope is even in thee.

ARISE, shine, O Zion: for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and Kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Sing, O Heavens, and be joyful, O Earth, for behold, I bring you glad tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. Glory to God on high, and on earth peace, good will towards men.
