Edenton Judicial District of N. C., was in the C. S. Army and died from disease contracted while in service, issue (a) Frank N. Hines, drowned at Nags Head, N. C., while bathing, (b) Richard N. Hines unmarried at this writing, living with his mother in Edenton, N. C.; (9) Frances Norfleet md. W. H. Urquhart.

The above gives quite a full record of the descendants of Rev. John McKenzie and wife, Janet Gray. We have appended it as a note to notice of Margaret McKenzie's connection with the Edenton Tea Party. She left no descendants and had but one sister, Frances, who married Governor Samuel Johnston.

MRS. FRANCES JOHNSTON.

Was the daughter of Dr. William Cathcart and his 2d wife Prudence West, and wife of Gov. Samuel Johnston (son of Samuel Johnston and wife Helen Scrymgeoure and grand-son of John Johnston and wife Margaret Belcher, of Stapleton, North Britain. Issue (1) Penelope md. Samuel Swann, no issue; (2) Gabriel never married; (3) Fanny never married; (4) Helen never married; (5) James Cathcart Johnston died in 1865 a bachelor. With him this branch of the Johnston family became extinct.

Mrs. Margaret McKenzie and Mrs. Frances Johnston are both buried at Hayes, N. C.
