THE NORTH CAROLINA HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL REGISTER, will be published quarterly, beginning in January, 1900. It will contain, an abstract of the public records compiled from the originals, in the office of the Secretary of State, at Raleigh, N. C., and those of the Counties of Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Tyrrell, Washington, Beaufort, Bertie, Northampton, and Halifax, in North Carolina, and the counties of Surry, and Isle of Wight, in the State of Virginia.

In addition to its valuable historical lore, it will be of great assistance to those desirous of tracing their family history, together with the collateral branches of their family, back to the early settlement of the country. There will be no necessity to investigate the public records of the counties named, for this purpose, by the subscribers to this publication, as it will contain every item that can be found, relating to the personal, as well as the public history of the counties above mentioned. It will contain articles from the pens of eminent writers throughout the State, well acquainted with the historical events that have transpired within North Carolina.

Its columns will be open to receive, collate, and preserve the history of the State.

There will be also a department, through which enquiries can be made relative to families, and their genealogy, by this means information can be secured, that could not be otherwise obtained.

Letters of inquiry relative to family history, must contain a selfaddressed stamped envelope, to secure a prompt reply. The periodical will contain 160 pages of reading matter, 1530 ems solid small pica, and brevier, to the page.

Arrangements have been made to supply back numbers. Terms of subscription, $1.00 per single copy, $3.00 per annum.

In remitting, please do so, either by registered letter, or post office money order, as the cost of collecting otherwise, is too heavy to be borne by the publisher.

Address,

J. R. B. HATHAWAY,

Editor and Financial Agent, Edenton, N. C.
