BE IT REMEMBERED, that on this twenty-seventh day of November, in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and six, Samuel Blodget, junior, of the said district, hath deposited in this office, the title of a book the right where f he claims as author, but for the benefit in trust for the free education fund of the university founded by GEORGE WASHINGTON, in his last will; the title of which book is in the following words, to wit: "ECONOMICA, a Statistical Manual for the United States of America," in conformity to an act of the Congress of the United States, entitled "an act for the encouragement of learning by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned."

G. DENEALE, CLERK

OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.

NOTE TO SUBSCRIBERS.

BEING in the habit, for many years, of giving away my annual statistical tables for the United States, I am not, by a change of pecuniary circumstances, reconciled to profit from the result of such interesting inquiries; for, however successful, they have in the pursuit afforded much consolation: hence, without consulting you, gentlemen, I have presumed to give a part of your money to the free education fund of WASHINGTONIA. I have also, for this sublime object, secured the profit, if any there may be, on any future edition of this work.

SAMUEL BLODGET, JUNIOR.

The blanks opposite the feet of each column of the general statistical tables, are left to be filled with a pen, with the result of future years.
