A Sentimental Journey Through France & Italy
J.M. Dent and Company, 1906 - 164 Seiten
First published in 1768, Laurence Sterne's "A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy" is a comic novel based on his own travels in those countries. Mr. Yorick, the narrator, has many adventures and meets all sorts of men and women (being most interested in the latter.) The book's abrupt ending is due to the fact that Sterne died a few weeks after the publication of the book's first part. Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" was originally published in 1813, and remains extremely popular today. It tells the story of the Bennet family, whose five daughters, Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine, and Lydia will all need suitable husbands. Because the family will be destitute upon Mr. Bennet's death, as there is no male heir, at least one daughter must marry well. But, as Jane learns, hasty judgments may hamper romance.
