GREAT BRITAIN AND SCOTLAND.

The order adopted with the following Tables, (commencing with those having reference to the RIVER THAMES,) is by giving those marked A and B in the foregoing act; then the Rates payable for vessels piloted into MARGATE Harbour, RAMSGATE Harbour, &c. and so on to the Downs, and along the southern coast of England; then from PENZANCE, up the Welch coast to BEAUMARIS and LIVERPOOL; the Coasts of SCOTLAND, commencing at the Mull of Cantire, the Orkney and Shetland Islands, down the eastern Coast to the Port of LEITH in SCOTLAND, and ending with MALDON in the Yarmouth district, on the eastern side of England.

Ships not having British registers are to pay one-fourth more than ships having British registers, except when such first-mentioned ships shall be chiefly laden with corn or other provisions, or shall by any order in council, for which see page 183, be privileged to enter the ports of this kingdom, upon paying the same duties of tonnage as are paid by British ships, in which case such ships and vessels not having British registers shall pay the like rates of pilotage only as are payable by ships having British registers.-For half a foot exceeding the above dranghts of water, the medium price between the two limits. For intermediate distances a proportionate rate. For removing a ship or vessel from moorings into a dry or wet dock, for a ship under 300 tons, 15s.; 300 to 600 tons, 1. 1s.; 600 to 1000 tons, 17. 11s. 6d.; above 1000 tons, 21. 2.-In the river Thames, above Gravesend, for a boat of a class carrying an anchor of above 4 cwt. with a corre sponding tow-line, 21. 2s.; ditto, ditto, above 2 cwt. 17. 13.: ditto, ditto, under 2 cwt. 15s.; per trip for the whole distance from Gravesend to London; and in proportion for any part of that distance, -And for each man's service in those boats, 8s. per tide.

A TABLE of the Rates of Pilotago to be demanded and received by Pilots licensed by the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and Constable of Dover Castle, or his Lieutenant for the time being, for Piloting Ships and Vessels within the Limits in the said Table mentioned.

From the several rates mentioned in this there shall be deducted 5 per cent. when the number of Cinque Port Pilots shall be reduced to 120. Ships not having British registers are to pay one-fourth more than ships having British registers, except when such first-mentioned ships shall be chiefly laden with corn or other provisions, or shall, by any order of his Majesty's most honourable privy council, be privileged to enter the ports of this kingdom, upon paying the same duties of tonnage as are paid by British ships, in which case such ships and vessels, not having British registers, shall pay the like rates of pilotage only as are payable by ships having British registers.

For half a foot, exceeding the above draughts of water, the medium price

between the two limits. See EXCEPTIONS, page 183.

For intermediate distances, a proportionate rate.

For putting a Pilot on board, and 60 Tons, 150 Tons, 250 Tons, 400 Tons, 600 Tons, for Pilotage of Ships and Vessels and under and under and under and under and upto the Anchorage in the Downs.*

From off Dungeness to off Folkestone; the Church bearing N. N.W. by Compass...... From off Folkestone to the South Foreland, the Lights in one. . ... From off the South Foreland to the Downs.

When the pilot is put on board by a boat from the shore, one-seventh to the pilot, and the remaining six-sevenths to the boat and crew.

From DUNGENESS to the OWERS, and vice versâ, and to and from, and into and out of, all Ports and Places within those limits.

N.B.-No master of a vessel is compelled to take a pilot within this district, until he comes to the entrance of Rye, Shoreham, or Newhaven, and is bound to one of those ports; but if he does take a pilot between Dungeness and the Owers, it must be a licensed pilot, if one offers.
