LUKE XXIV. written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise
from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and re
mission of sins should be preached in his name among
all nations, beginning at Je48 rusalem.
And ye are wit49 nesses of these things. And
behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Then said Jesus to them again ; Peace be unto you; as my 22 Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had
said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them ; Receive 23 ye the Holy Ghost. Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they
; are retained.
MARK XVI. And he said unto them ; Go ye into all the world, 16 and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth
and is baptized, shall be saved ; but he that believeth not 17 shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe ; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall
: 18 speak with new tongues ; they shall take up serpents; and if
they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not 25 with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore
said unto him ; We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them ; Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails,
and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my 26 hand into his side, I will not believe. And after
eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with
them. Then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood 27 in the midst, and said ; Peace be unto you. Then saith he
JOHN XX. to Thomas; Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands,
and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side ; and 28 be not faithless, but believing. Thomas answered and said 29 unto him ; My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him ;
Because thou has seen me, thou hast believed ; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And on this wise shewed he him2 self. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas call
ed Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the 3 sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon
Peter saith unto them; I go a fishing. They say unto him;
We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a 4 ship immediately, and that night they caught nothing. But
when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore; 5 but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus
saith unto them; Children, have ye any meat ? They an6 swered him ; No. And he said unto them ; Cast the net on
the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast there
fore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude 7 of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith
unto Peter ; It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard
that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him ; for 8 he was naked ; and did cast himself into the sea. And the
other disciples came in a little ship, (for they were not far
from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the 9 net with fishes. As soon then as they were come to land,
they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and 10 bread. Jesus saith unto them; Bring of the fish which 11 ye have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the
net to land full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three; and for all there were so many, yet was not the net bro
Jesus saith unto them; Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him; Who art thou? know13 ing that it was the Lord. Jesus cometh and taketh bread, 14 and giveth them, and fish likewise. This is now the third
time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter ; Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these ? He saith unto him ; Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee.
16 He saith unto him; Feed my lambs. He saith to him
again the second time; Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou
me? He saith unto him ; Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I 17 love thee. He saith unto him ; Feed my sheep. He saith
unto him the third time; Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me ? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time; Lovest thou me? And he said unto him ; Lord, thou
knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus 18 saith unto him ; Feed my sheep. Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, when thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest; but when thou shalt be old, thou
shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and 19 carry thee whither thou wouldest not. This spake he, signi
fying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had 20 spoken this, he saith unto him; Follow me. - Then Peter
turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, following;
(which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said ; Lord, 21 which is he that betrayeth thee ?) Peter seeing him, saith 22 to Jesus; Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith
unto him; If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to 23 thee? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad
among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. Yet Jesus said not unto him; He shall not die; but; If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee ?
This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
MATTHEW XXVIII. Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a 17 mountain, where Jesus had appointed them. And when
they saw him, they worshipped him ; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying ; All power is 19 given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, and teach all
, nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the 20 Son, and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all
things, whatsoever I have commanded you. And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
So then, after the Lord 50 And he led them out as had spoken unto them, he was far as to Bethany; and he lift received up into heaven, and
into heaven, and l up his hands, and blessed
LUKE XXIV. sat on the right hand of God;151 them. And it came to pass 20 and they went forth, and while he blessed them, he
preached every where, the was parted from them, and Lord working with them, and 52 carried up into heaven. And confirming the word with they worshipped him, and signs following.
returned to Jerusalem with 53 great joy ; and were contin
ually in the temple, praising and blessing God.
JOHN XX. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of 31 his disciples, which are not written in this book. But these
are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and that believing ye might have life through his name.
XXI. 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the
which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.

FACTS AND DISCOURSES, OF UNCERTAIN DATE.
LUKE VII. And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him ; and he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to
; 37 meat. And behold, a woman in the city, which was a sin
ner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's 38 house, brought an alabaster-box of ointment, and stood at his
feet behind him, weeping, and began to wash his feet with
tears; and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and 39 kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now,
when the Pharisee which had bidden him, saw it, he spake within himself, saying; This man, if he were a prophet,
would have known who, and what manner of woman this is 40 that toucheth him ; for she is a sinner. And Jesus answer
ing said unto him ; Simon, I have somewhat to say unto 41 thee. And he saith ; Master, say on. There was a certain
creditor, which had two debtors; the one owed five hundred 12 pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing
to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, 43 which of them will love him most? Simon answered and
said ; I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he 44 said unto him ; Thou hast rightly judged.
And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon ; Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house ; thou gavest me no water for my
feet; but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped 45 them with her hair. Thou gavest me no kiss; but this woman, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my
Mine head with oil thou didst not anoint; but this 47 woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I
say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for
