TO THE INMATES OF THE STATE PRISON AT FOLSOM, CALIFORNIA: In view of the limited amount of reading matter in the Prison Library, the idea suggested itself to my mind that a pamphlet containing brief and terse extracts from the writings of a few of the best standard authors, together with a few of my own suggestions, might confer a positive benefit upon the younger, and meet the approbation of the older inmates of the Prison, I compiled the one herewith presented.
