Mr. Bright reported from the committee that they had examined and found duly enrolled the following acts:

H. R. 595. An act making appropriations for the current and contingent expenses of the Indian department, and for fulfilling treaty stipulations with the various Indian tribes, for the year ending June 30, 1848.

H. R. 691. An act to amend the act entitled "An act to reduce the rates of postage, to limit the use and correct the abuse of the franking privilege, and for the prevention of frauds on the revenues of the Post Office Depart-ment," passed third March, eighteen hundred and forty-five.

A message from the House of Representatives, by Mr. French, their Clerk:

Mr. President: The House of Representatives agree to the 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, and 15th amendments of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 596) making appropriations for the naval service for the year ending June 30, 1848; disagree to the 3d, 12th, and 13th amendments of the Senate to the said bill; and agree to the 1st, 2d, 5th, and 16th amendments of the Senate, with amendments: in which they request the concurrence of the Senate.

The House of Representatives insist on their disagreement to the amendments of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 605) making appropriations for the support of the Military Academy for the year ending June 30, 1848.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives having signed two enrolled bills, I am directed to bring them to the Senate for the signature of their President.

The Vice President signed the two enrolled bills (H. R. 595, 691) last

reported to have been examined, and they were delivered to the committee to be presented to the President of the United States.
