I Cor. v. I. It is reported commonly that there is Fornication among you, and fuch Fornication as is not fo much as named amongst the Gentiles, that one should have his Father's Wife.-Ver. 5. Deliver fuch a one unto Satan for the Deftruction of the Flefh, that the Spirit may be faved in the Day of the Lord Jefus. 2 Cor. ii. 6, &c. Sufficient to fuch a Man is this Punishment, which was inflicted of many; fo that contrariwife ye ought rather to forgive him, and confort him, left perhaps fuch a one fhould be fwallowed up with over much Sorrow; wherefore I beseech you, that ye would confirm your Love towards him.

Matt. xvii. 16, 17. Simon Peter anfwered and faid, thou art the Chrift the Son of the living God. And Jefus anfwered and faid unto him, Bleffed art thou, Simon-Barjona, for Flesh and Blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in Heaven. Matt. xxvi. 35. Peter faid unto him, though I should die with Thee, yet will I not deny Thee. Ver. 69. Peter fat without in the Palace, and a Damfel came unto him, faying, Thou alfo waft with Jefus of Galilee. Ver. 70. But he denied before them all, faying, I know not what thou fayeft. Ver. 72. And again he denied with an Oath, I do not know the Man. Ver. 74. Then began he to curfe and to fwear, faying, I know not the Man; and immediately the Cock crew. Ver. 75. And Peter remembered the Word of Jefus, &c. and he went out and wept bitterly. 2 Cor. xii. 21. Left when I come again, my GOD will humble me among you, and that I fhall bewail many which have finned already, and have not repented of the Uncleanness, and Fornication, and Lafcivioufnefs, which they have committed.

3 Gal. vi. 1. Brethren, if a Man be overtaken in a Fault, ye which are spiritual restore such an one in the Spirit of Meeknefs, confidering thyfelf left thou also be tempted. Rev. ii. 4, 5. Thou haft left thy first Love. Remember therefore whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first Works,

Df Predestination and Elexion.

Redestination to Life is the everlafting Purpofe of God, whereby (before the Foundations of the World were laid) he hath constantly decreed by his Counfel, fecret to us, to deliver from Curfe and Damnation thofe whom he hath 2 chosen in Christ out of Mankind, and to bring them by Chrift to everlasting Salvation, as Veffels made to Honour. Wherefore they which be endued with fo excellent a Benefit of God, be3 called according to God's Purpose, by his Spirit working in due Seafon: They through Grace obey the Calling: They be juftified freely: They be 6 made Sons of God by Adoption: They be made 7 like the Image of his only-begotten Son Jefus Chrift: They walk religiously in good Works, and at length, by God's Mercy, they attain to everlasting Felicity. As the godly Confideration of Predeftination, and our Election in Chrift, is 10 full of sweet, pleasant, and unspeakable Comfort to godly Perfons, and fuch as feel in themfelves the Working of the Spirit of Chrift, mortifying the Works of the Flesh, and 13 their earthly Members, and 14 drawing up their Mind to high and heavenly Things, as well because it doth is greatly establish and confirm their Faith of eternal Salvation, to be enjoyed through Chrift, as because it doth 16 fervently kindle their Love towards God: So, for 17 curious and carnal Perfons, 18 lacking the Spirit of Chrift, to have continually before their Eyes the Sentence of God's Predeftination, is a moft dangerous Downfal, 19 whereVW MALVE

whereby the Devil doth thrust them either into Desperation, or into Wretchleffaefs of unclean Living, no lefs perilous than Defperation. 20 Furthermore, we muft receive God's Promifes in fuch wife as they be generally fet forth to us in holy Scripture. And in our 1 Doings, that the Will of God is to be followed, which we have exprefly declared unto us in the Word of God.

Eph. i. 3, &c. Bleffed be the God and Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift, who hath bleffed us with all spiritual Blethings in heavenly Places in Chrift, according as He hath chofen us in Him before the Foundation of the World, that we fhould be holy, and without Blame before him in Love; having predeftinated us unto the Adoption of Children by Jefus Chrift to himself, according to the good Pleasure of his Will, to the Praise of the Glory of his Grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the Beloved. Ver. 11. In whom alfo we have obtained an Inheritance, being predeftinated according to the Purpose of him, who worketh all Things after the Counsel of his own Will. 2 Tim. i. 9. Who hath faved and called us with an holy Calling, not according to our Works, but according to his own Purpofe and Grace, which was given. us in Chrift Jefus before the World began.

Ye are a chofen Generation. Acts ix. 15. He is a chofen Veffel unto me. John xv. 19. I have chofen you out of the World. Rom. ix. 23. The Veffels of Mercy which he had before prepared unto Glory. Ver. 21. Hath not the Potter Power over the Clay, of the fame Lump, to make one Veffel unto Honour, and another to Difhonour?

3 Eph. i. 18. That ye may know what is the Hope of his Calling. 2 Tim. i. 9. Who hath faved us, and called us with an holy Calling. Heb. iii. 1. Holy Brethren, Partakers of the heavenly Calling. Rom. viii. 30. Whom he did predeftinate, them he also called.

Wherefore thou art no more a Servant, but a Son; and if a Son, then an Heir of GOD through Chrift.

7 Rom. viii. 29. Whom he did foreknow, he alfo did predestinate, to be conformed to the Image of his Son. 1 Cor. xv. 49. As we have borne the image of the Earthy, we fhall alfo bear the Image of the Heavenly.-Col. iii. 10. Put on the new Man, which is renewed in Knowledge after the Image of him that created him.

Eph. i. 10. We are his Workmanship, created in Chrift Jefus unto good Works, which God hath before ordained that we fhould walk in them.

9 Matt. xxv. 34. Come, ye bleffed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the Foundation. of the World. Rom. viii. 30. Whom he juftified, them he alfo glorified. 1 Pet. i. 3, 4, 5. Blefled be the God and Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift, which, according to his abundant Mercy, hath begotten us again unto a lively Hope, by the Refurrection of Jefus Chrift from the Dead, to an Inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away, referved in Heaven for you, who are kept by the Power of God through Faith unto Salvation, ready to be revealed in the laft Time.

10 Rom. v. 11. We joy in GOD through our Lord Jefus Chrift, by whom we have now received the Atonement. Pf. xciv. 19. Thy Comforts delight my Soul. 1 Pet. i. 8. Whom having not feen, ye love; in whom, though now ye fee him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with Joy unspeakable, and full of Glory.

It is God that juftifieth, who is he that condemneth? It is Chrift that died, yea rather that is rifen again, who alfo maketh Interceffion for us. Who fhall feparate us from the Love of Chrift?—I am perfuaded that neither Death nor Life, nor Angels nor Principalities, nor Powers, nor Things prefent, nor Things to come, nor Heighth nor Depth, nor any other Creature, fhall be able to feparate us from the Love of GOD, which is in Chrift Jefus our Lord.
