A new Book of Devotion, wrote by F. Sannadon, has been lately publish'd: It is intitled, Retraites fpirituels propres aux communautez Religieufes, in 12°. It is printed for Greg. du Puys, Rue S. Jacques. IV. The fame Bookfeller has alfo publifh'd a fecond Edition of the New Syftem of Rhetorick, drawn from the Rules of Ariftotle, Cicero, and Quintilian; with examples taken from the facred and profane Authors, both ancient and modern. Divided into three Books, in 120. This work was received with great and general applaufe, when it was first printed, which was in the year 1722. V. The Amours of Ifmene and Ifmenius are publifh'd, wrote by Mr. Beauchamps, and printed for M. Simart. VI. The Impreffion of the Supplementum in Corpus Juris Canonici, five in Jus univerfum Ecclefiafticum, cum brevi Commentario ad decretum Gratiani, in Folio, is now finifh'd. It is printed for Jacques Vincent.. VII. Mr. Richer has publish'd fome new Fables in Verfe, which he has dedicated to the Prince of Conti. MAR A MARSEILLS. Bbé Sevin is arrived here from Conftantinople, and has brought along with him a large and curious Collection of fcarce and valuable MSS. in feveral Languages: A particular account of which, the learned world may now hope to fee publish'd in a fhort time. T CONSTANTINOPLE. HE Printing-Office, erected here, has met with all the fuccefs that could be expected. The first Book printed in it, was an Arabick Dictionary, tranflated into the Turkish language by Obancouli, in two Volumes in Folio; The firft containing 666 pages, and the fecond 756. In the Preface, they give a great encomium to the Grand Vizir, for the fhare he had in the establishment of that Printing-house. There is prefix'd, the privilege granted by the Grand Signior to Zaid, Son of Mahomet Effendi, formerly Ambaffador in France, to print all forts of Books, except fuch as treat of the Mabometan Religion. There are likewife inferted the Mufti Abdala's Imprimatur; and a Treatife of the ufe this Printing-Houfe will be of to the Turks. Two other Books have been printed fince: The first of which is a Folio of 150 pages; the Author named Hagi Califa, and the Editor Ibrahim Mutafarica. This treats of the Terreftrial Globe, of the Sphere, and Geography; and contains particularly a defcription of the Venetian Territories, Albania, and the Isle of Corfu, 7 Corfu, and feveral parts of Turky: As alfo a relation of the Turks wars by fea; a history of the Turkish Admirals, from the taking of Conftantinople, to the year 1653; with a defcription of the Arfenal at Conftantinople, &c. The fecond book is in 4to, of 194 pages; containing an account of a Traveller, and the History of the late Revolution in Perfia; tranflated from the Latin, by Ibrahim Mutafarica: who, tho' he does not name his Author, yet is fuppofed to be wrote by the fame hand that furnish'd F. Cerceau with the Memoirs, from which he drew up his account. The reft of this book contains the Hiftory of the Sophi's of Perfia, to the time of Schach Huffein, who was dethron'd by Mireweis; with the Hiftory of Sultan Efref, &c. The Abbots Fourmont and Sevin have now left this place: The firft is gone to travel into the Morea; the other is return'd into France, and carries with him two Chefts full of very scarce and curious MSS. in the Greek, Turkish, Arabick, and Armenian Languages, and of which there are not yet any Copies in the King's Library. HE Academy of Sciences have been buy for a good while paft, in digesting the Papers and Memoirs of Captain Berring, who had been order'd by the late Czar Peter I. to go with twenty perfons more, to discover the extremities of Tartary and Siberia; and who, in order to this, have traverfed above a thoufand German leagues by land and water.
