A communication from the Senate by their clerk, was read as follows:

In Senate, March 20, 1879.

The Senate have passed House bill entitled an act to relieve Win. P. Harvey of a fine, No. 15.

They have agreed, with amendments, to House joint resolution instructing the clerks of the two houses of the general assembly not to issue certificates for mileage or stationery, and the disbursing officers of the state not to pay mileage to the members of the present extra session of the general assembly.

And they have passed bills entitled an act to repeal the act for the protection of game, in so far as it applies to Wise, Lee, and Buchanan

counties, No. 39; an act to permit and authorize the city of Lynchburg to issue bonds for the purpose of retiring its outstanding funded indebtedness, No. 38; an act for the relief of John A. Spilman and Robert Frazier, No. 40; and an act to provide for keeping in repair partition fences in the county of Fauquier, No. 41.

In which amendments and bills they respectfully request the concurrence of the House of Delegates.

The following Senate bills were read twice, and under a suspension of the rule were not placed on the calendar:
