1611.

I, Robert Cutler of London, yeoman, being purposed very shortly to make a voiage to the seas and set sayle for Virginia, whereas, I have several sums of money lent out to divers persons at 10 per cent., for which bonds, etc., are in the hands of my exors. I bequeath these to my natural mother, Dorothy Maddock, wife of Wm. Maddock of Ipswich, merchant, for her life. After her death I bequeath the same to my three natural sisters, Jillian Baxter, Mary Wyeth and Ann Cary, equally between them. I ordain my brother-inlaw Allen Cary and Wm. "I, Thomas Cutler, citizen and grocer of London," late of St. Maries, Aldermanburrie, Lond. "My body to be buried wherever I may inhabit at time of my death or at discretion of my ecore." "To my loving wife Magdaline Cutler and my children* Julian, Robert and Thomas Cutler, all unadvanced, to be divided according to the laudable custom of the cittie of London. Dated 30 April, 1611, in the cittie of Bath.

I, Roger Cutler of Ipswich Co., Suffolk, merchant, "To my son John, the house I now inhabit in St. Nicholas Parish for ever when 21 years of age." If he die then to Robert Cutler, youngest son of my brother, Samuel Cutler, deceased. If Robert die, then to the youngest surviving son of my said brother Samuel, deceased.

To Mr. Samuel Ward £20." "To Mr. Nathaniel Swart, minister of St. Nicholas, 20 nobles." To Mr. John Carter, preacher of Belstead, £5. "To Mr. J. Roger, preacher of Dedham, £5. "To Mr. Marshall, minister of Finchfield in Essex, 40s." "To my friends Mr. Ralph Moore, Mr. Robert Knappe and Mr. Edward Day, £5 each."

"To my sister Joane Brossie, £5, but if dead to Anne her da. "To the poor of St. Nicholas Parish, £4. My entirely beloved friend Mr. John Smythier of Tps., merchant, sole ceor. "Mr. Samuel Ward and Mr. Nathaniel Swart, Supervisors.

"My excr. shall gather in all my estate beyond the seas as in England (shipping excepted) and convert the same into money and purchase in the name of my son John, so much freehold land or copyhold as the said money will purchase.

If the said John die then* remainder to Mr. William Cage, Mr. John Sicklemore, Mr. Wm. Morpey, portmen of Ipswich, and to Mr. Nicholas Scott of Ipswich Clarke the one moiety of the said lands to be distributed to poor persons at the rate of 2s per.

The other moiety to be divided into two parts, one to be distributed among the sons of my said brother Samuel Cutler and Margaret Cutler, da. of my brother John and Anne Bressie, da. of my sister Joane Bressie." The other part to be paid to the minister of St. Nicholas in Ipswich forever towards his maintenance and the increase of his stipend. "My shipping, viz.: 3-16 of the "Rose, % of the Concord, % of the Expedition," 1-16 of the Goodwill. I give to my said son John, when 21 years of age, my excr. meantime, taking care of same for his education.

"The portion left to the children of Samuel Cutler, my brother, Margaret Cutler and Anne Bressie shall at their death go to Thomas Cutler my nephew one other of the children of sd. Samuel Cutler my brother, and to his heirs for ever and for want of such heirs to the heirs of William Cutler, brother of the said Thomas and for want of such heirs to Robert Cutler, younger brother, er of sd. Wm. Cutler.

*I, William Cutler of Ipswich Co. Suffolk, merchant. Twelve sermons to be preached in the town of Ipswich by some godly man selected by my excr., and he to have 6s, 8d for every sermon to be preached within twelve months after my decease.

To the poor of Ipswich, 6.

All my goods except the apparel of Dorothy my wife, to be divided into four parts, and three parts to be divided amongst my sons and das., when 20, or when they marry. The fourth part to Dorothy, my wife, she to have the custody of my children's part, except my son John Cutler's part. I make my son John Cutler my well beloved brother Robert Cutler & John Howes the elder of Ipswich my excrs. and to have £5 each, & Robert Sucklinge, merchant of Ipswich, supervisor, to have £5.

"I, Robert Cutler, dwelling in Neyland recof Stoke, County Suffolk, Diocese of Norwich.

My body to be buried in the churchyard of Neyland.

"I give unto Christian my wife that her stock be made worth £50.

To Nicholas Cutler, my brother Thomas' son, a feather bed which was my granfars, shets, pewter dishes, etc., etc.

To Anne Gorbault, 3s 4d. To Alice Crysall my "Binte" (sic) 12s. To Margaret Sowle, my wife's sister, 13s 4.

*Probably father of those mentioned in preceding wills.
