About the author (1996)

Richard Selley is Professor of Applied Sedimentology in the Department of Geology, Royal School of Mines, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London. He worked for several years for Conoco in Libya and the North Sea, and has extensive international experience as a consultant and lecturer to the oil and mining industries.
