The British Museum is open to the Public, free of charge, on every day in the year (except Good Friday and Christmas Day). The hours of opening are, on week-days, from 10 A. M. to 6 P.M. (After 4 P.M. in January, February, November, and December, and after 5 P.M. in March, September, and October, the Greek and Roman Galleries are open only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.) On Sundays the Exhibition Galleries are open from 2 P.M. to 4, 5, or 6 P.M., according to the season. The British Museum is, on the whole, the best-ordered and pleasantest institution in all England, and the grandest concentration of the means of human knowledge in the world. -RUSKIN. |
