CHAP. 112.—AN ACT to confirm the sale of a certain school section in the
State of Illinois, and for other purposes.

Pellerin, his heirs or assigns.

CHAP. 114.—AN ACT for the relief of John P. Converse and Henry J. Rees. [SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Postmaster General issue his warrant on the Treasury of the United States, registered and countersigned as provided by law, for the payment of John P. Converse and Henry J. Rees, out of the moneys paid into the Treasury for the service of the Post Office Department, for the sum of six hundred and thirteen dollars and eighty-three cents, the interest on two drafts, (including the expense of a protest, of one dollar and seventy-five cents,) under date of March fourteenth, eighteen hundred and thirty-five, and accepted by the then treasurer of the Post Office Department, by direction of the Postmaster General, at sixty and one hundred and twenty days; which drafts were negotiated at the Metropolis Bank, and not accounted for by the said Department.

CHAP. 117.-AN ACT for the relief of Edwin H. Childers, administrator of
John P. Hickman.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress Accounts of J. assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized to audit and settle the accounts of John P. Hickman, deceased, late a paymaster in the Tennessee volunteers engaged in the service of the United States; and to credit the estate of said Hickman for all moneys which shall appear, upon satisfactory proof, to have been actually expended by said Hickman, for the use and benefit of the United States, for any purpose authorized by law.

Authority to erect the bridge, and make a road.

CHAP. 118.-AN ACT to authorize the Shenandoah Bridge Company, at Harpers Ferry, to erect a bridge on the land of the United States at the town of Harper's Ferry.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Shenandoah Bridge Company; at Harper's Ferry, be, and they are hereby, authorized to erect a bridge across the river Shenandoah, on the lands belonging to the United States, at or near the town of Harper's Ferry, and to connect the same, by a sufficient road or passway through the said lands, with the road on the east side of said river and Proviso: in doing the Main street of the said town: Provided, That, in the conwith the rights of struction of the said bridge, and the said road or passway to and from it, the said company shall not, in virtue of this act, interfere with the rights and privileges of any individuals or existing Proviso: location Corporations: And provided, also, That the location of the said to be approved by bridge upon the public lands aforesaid shall be submitted to and approved by the Secretary of War, prior to the erection Proviso: agents thereof: And provided, also, That all agents, servants and proto pass free of toll perty in the service of or belonging to the United States, shall pass and be transported free of toll.

CHAP. 120.—AN ACT to constitute the ports of Stonington, Mystic river, and Pawcatuck river, a collection district.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the town of Stonington, in the county of New Stonington made London, State of Connecticut, shall be a collection district, trict and a port of from and after the thirtieth day of June next; and that the port of Stonington, aforesaid, shall be, and hereby is, made a port of entry.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the district of Stonington shall comprehend all the waters, shores, bays, and harbors, from the west line of Mystic river, including the villages of Portersville and Noank, in the town of Groton, State of Connecticut, to the east line of Pawcatuck river, including the town of Westerly, State of Rhode Island, any thing in any former law to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAP. 121. AN ACT making appropriations for the naval service for the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-two.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums be appropriated, in addition to the unexpended balances of former appropriations, out of any unappropriated money in the Treasury, for the naval service for the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-two, viz.:

No. 1.
