CHAP. 4.-AN ACT making appropriations for pensions in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-two.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums be, and the same are hereby, appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to wit:

For revolutionary pensions, under the act of the eighteenth of March, eighteen hundred and eighteen, in addition to a probable balance at the end of the year eighteen hundred and forty-one, of one hundred eighty-eight thousand seven hundred and ninety-nine dollars, eighty-eight thousand two hundred and sixty-one dollars.

For invalid pensions, under various acts, two hundred thousand two hundred and seventy-five dollars.

For pensions to widows and orphans, per act of the fourth of dows and orphans July, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, in addition to a probable balance at the end of the year eighteen hundred and forty

CHAP. 5.—AN ACT to provide for the early disposition of the lands lying in the State of Alabama, acquired from the Cherokee Indians by the treaty of twenty-ninth of December, eighteen hundred and thirty-five.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That all that part of the territory acquired from the Said lands to be Cherokee Indians by the treaty of New Echota of twenty- added to the ninth December, eighteen hundred and thirty-five, within Coosa districts. the State of Alabama, which lies west of the line dividing ranges two and three east of the basis meridian of Huntsville, shall be added to and form a part of said district; and all the territory acquired by the said treaty within the said State not attached to the Huntsville district, as above described, shall be annexed to and form a part of the Coosa land district, in said State.

Eastern District of Pennsylvania, to hold a special session of the said court.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Judge of the District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania be, and he is hereby, authorized authorized. to hold a special session of the said court at a time to be by him designated, in lieu of the regular session which was appointed by law to be begun and held on the third Monday of February, one thousand eight hundred and forty-two, but was prevented by a vacancy in the office of district judge; and Needful arrange the marshal, clerk, and all other officers of the said court are hereby enjoined and required to make all needful arrangements for carrying into effect the provisions of this act.

CHAP. 7.-AN ACT supplementary to an act entitled An act to amend the act approved May thirteenth, one thousand eight hundred, entitled An act to amend an act entitled an act to establish the judicial courts of the United States.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, 80 per annum alauthorized and directed to place the name of Huldah Tucker, lowed. widow of Zephaniah Tucker, a soldier of the revolution, on the roll of pensioners of the United States, and pay to her the sum of eighty dollars per annum, to be computed from the fourth day of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-one, and to continue during her natural life.

CHAP. 11.—AN ACT granting a pension to Margaret Jamison. [SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, directed to place the name of Margaret Jamison, widow. of Samuel Jamison, deceased, of the State of Pennsylvania, on the revolutionary pension roll, under the act of July fourth, eighteen hundred and thirty six, for four months' service of her late husband as a sergeant and two months as a lieutenant. CHAP. 13. AN ACT for the relief of Margaret Barnes, widow of Elijahr
Barnes.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War cause the name of Mar$20 per annum al- garet Barnes, widow of Elijah Barnes, a soldier of the revolution, to be entered on the pension roll, in conformity to the act of Congress of July fourth, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, and pay her at the rate of twenty dollars per annum, commencing on the fourth day of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-one, as is required in other cases by the provisions of the aforesaid act.
