Stephen P. Gibert is Professor of Government, Director of the National Security Studies Program, and a member of the International Research Council of the Coiter for Strategic and International Studies at Georgetown University. In 1980 he served on the Defense Advisory Group for President Reagan. He was Director of a Village Research Project in Thailand, Advisor to the Burmese Government in Rangoon, and Editor of International Security Review. He is the author of Northeast Asia in U.S. Foreign Policy as well as other works on international security affairs and American-Asian relations. His Ph.D. is from Johns Hopkins University.
