( "fee of Rome, or by any authority whatsoever, may be depofed or murdered by their fubjects, " or by any perfon whatsoever; and I do pro"mife that I will not hold, maintain, or abet, any fuch opinion, or any other opinion con trary to what is expreffed in this declaration: "And I do declare, that I do not believe that "the pope of Rome, or any other foreign prince, prelate, state, or potentate, hath or ought to have any temporal or civil jurisdic"tion, power, fuperiority, or pre-eminence, di rectly or indirectly, within this kingdom: "And I do folemnly, in the prefence of God Almighty, profefs, teftify, and declare, that I "do make this declaration, and every part "thereof, in the plain and ordinary fenfe of the "words of this oath, without any evafion, equi"vocation, or mental reservation whatever; and "without any difpenfation already granted by the pope, or any authority of the fee of Rome, "or any perfon whatever, and without thinking "that I am or can be acquitted before God or "man, or abfolved of this declaration, or any part thereof, although the pope, or any other r perfon or authority whatsoever, fhall difpenfe "with or annul the fame, or declare that it was " null and void from the beginning. "So help me GOD." Provided Provided always, that no perfons naturalized by this act fhall be enabled to ferve in the prefent or any future parliament, nor to be of his majesty's privy council, nor to hold any office of truft, civil or military, in this kingdom. Be it enacted, &c. that in cafe any person or perfons fhall give any interruption or disturbance to any merchant, trader, artificer, artizan, manufacturer, workman, feaman, farmer, or others aforefaid, to the hindering him in his working, buying, or felling, as aforefaid, contrary to the intent and meaning of this present act, every fuch perfon or perfons fhall for every fuch offence forfeit the fum of twenty pounds, to be recovered by complaint before any juftice of the peace of this kingdom, (who is hereby impowered to examine and determine the fame,) on the oath of one or more credible witness or witneffes; which penalty fhall be paid over, one moiety to the informer, and the other moiety to the poor of the parish where fuch offence fhall be committed; and to be levyed by warrant under the hand and feal of fuch magiftrate, and by the fale of the offender's goods. And for the greater encouragement of ftrangers to come and refide in this kingdom, be it enacted, &c. that all fuch ftrangers who fhall come come and fettle in any corporation, town, city, or borough, in this kingdom, fhall be freed from being obliged to undergo any corporation. or parish offices, for the term of feven years after their coming into this kingdom.
