François - Marie Arouet (qui devait prendre plus tard et illustrer le nom de Voltaire), naquit au village de Chatenay, près de Paris, le 20 février 1694. Il était si faible en venant au monde, que la cérémonie de son baptème dut ètre retardée jusqu'au 22 novembre. Cette cérémonie eut lieu à Paris, dans l'église de Saint André des Arts.
