“We, the undersigned Members (or Licentiates) of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (or of Edinburgh) (or of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow), do hereby certify that A. B., of C., Member (or Licentiate) of the said Royal College (or Faculty), is, from his moral character and professional attainments, a fit and proper person to be admitted to the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and we accordingly recommend him to the Council of the said College to be admitted a Member thereof."

5. The foregoing Certificate and Recommendation shall be signed by six Members or Licentiates of the College (or Faculty) of which the said Applicant shall be a Member or Licentiate.

6. A similar Certificate and Recommendation, signed by six Members of this College, shall also be transmitted or delivered with the foregoing Declaration, Certificate, and Recommendation.

7. The Fellows, Members, or Licentiates of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, or of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, shall not be admissible to the Fellowship or Membership of this College unless the Council of this College shall be satisfied that the respective Courses of professional Study for such Fellowship, Membership, or Licence required by the said Colleges or Faculty to which such Fellow, Member, or Licentiate shall belong, shall be equal to the respective Courses of professional Study required for the Fellowship and Membership of this College.

8. The Fellows of the Royal Colleges of Dublin and Edinburgh, and of the Faculty of Glasgow, shall pay, on their Admission to the Fellowship of this College, the sum of Thirty Guineas over and above all charges for Stamps which shall be necessary.

9. The Members or Licentiates of the Colleges of Dublin and Edinburgh, and of the Faculty of Glasgow, shall pay, on their Admission to the Membership of this College, the sum of Twenty Guineas over and above all charges for Stamps which shall be necessary.

10. No person admitted ad eundem a Fellow or Member of this College, shall exercise any right or privilege he shall have acquired by such admission, until he shall have signed a copy of the Bye-laws of the College, in testimony of having engaged himself to the observance thereof, and made and subscribed the following Declaration in the presence of the Council, viz. :-

“I, A. B., of C., Fellow (Member or Licentiate) of D., do solemnly and sincerely declare, that while a Fellow (or Member) of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, I will observe the Bye-Laws thereof, and will obey every lawful summons issued by order of the Council of the said College, having no reasonable excuse to the contrary. And I make this solemn Declaration by virtue of the provisions of an Act passed in the sixth year of the Reign of His late Majesty King William the Fourth, intituled an Act to repeal an Act of the present Session of Parliament intituled an Act for the more effectual Abolition of Oaths and Affirmations taken and made in various departments of the State, and to substitute Declarations in licu thereof, and for the more entire Suppression of voluntary and extra-judicial Oaths and Affidavits, and to make other provisions for the Abolition of unnecessary Oaths.”

RESOLUTIONS OF THE COUNCIL, The Licentiates of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow are admissible to the Membership of this College under the Bye-Laws relating to ad eundem admissions.

All Persons who were Members of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on the 14th September 1843, and who have since become or shall hereafter become Fellows of the said College, are admissible to the Fellowship of this College under the Bye-Laws relating to ad eundem admissions.

All Fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, admitted to the Fellowship thereof after examination, are admissible to the Fellowship of this College under the Bye-Laws relating to ad eundem admissions.

All Persons who were Members of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh on the 14th of September 1843, and who have since become or shall hereafter become Fellows of the said College, are admissible to the Fellowship of this College under the Bye-Laws relating to ad eundem admissions.

All Persons who were Members of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow on the 14th of September 1843, and who have since become or shall hereafter become Fellows of the said Faculty, are admissible to the Fellowship of this College under the Bye-Laws relating to ad eundem admissions.

The Fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow whose Diplomas of Fellowship shall bear date subsequently to the 14th of September 1843, are admissible to the Fellowship of this College under the Bye-Laws relating to ad eundem admissions, when the Council shall be satisfied that the Curricula of Education and the nature of the Examination under which each of such Fellows shall have been admitted were equal to those required from Persons admitted after examination to the Fellowship of this College.

Certificates of the Professional Education of Candidates for the Fellowship and Membership will be received by this College, for the year commencing the first of August, 1874.
