Se sont réunis afin de constater en due forme l'Accession de Leurs dites Altesse Royale, Altesses, et Altesses Sérénissimes, ainsi que l'Acceptation de cette Accession par Sa Majesté Britannique et par Sa Majesté

En conséquence le Plénipotentiaire de Son Altesse Royale le Grand Duc de Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, ainsi que celui de Leurs Altesses les Ducs de Saxe-Altenbourg, Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha, et Saxe-Meiningen, et de Leurs Altesses Sérénissimes les Princes de Schwarzbourg-Rudolstadt et Schwarzbourg-Sondershausen, de Reuss-Greitz, Reuss-Lobenstein-Ebersdorf, et Reuss-Schleitz, déclarent en vertu de leurs pleins pouvoirs, que Leurs dites Altesse Royale, Altesses, et Altesses Sérénissimes, accèdent tant à la Convention du 13 Mai, 1846, renfermant Dix Articles, et dont une copie imprimée se trouve annexée au présent Acte, qu'aux dispositions particulières contenues dans les §§ 1-4 du Protocole Séparé, également ci-joint en copie, et signé le même jour; promettant que les stipulations de la dite Convention, qui deviendra obligatoire pour les Etats de l'Association de Thuringe à partir du 15 Juillet, 1847, ainsi que celles du Protocole Séparé, seront exécutées par Leurs dites Altesse Royale, Altesses, et Altesses Sérénissimes, en tous points, en tant qu'elles sont applicables aux rapports dans lesquels les Etats de l'Association de Thuringe se trouvent vis-à-vis du Gouvernement Britannique et de ses sujets; et déclarant que les ouvrages Anglais inscrits, en vertu de l'Article II de la Convention, au registre tenu à Berlin, auront droit aussi à la protection contre la contrefaçon dans les dits Etats.

Les Plénipotentiaires de Sa Majesté la Reine du Royaume Uni de la Grande Bretagne et d'Irlande, et de Sa Majesté le Roi de Prusse, en vertu de leurs pleins pouvoirs, acceptent l'Accession de Leurs dites Altesse Royale, Altesses, et Altesses Sérénissimes; promettant que les stipulations de la Convention du 13 Mai, 1846, ainsi que les dispositions particulières du Protocole de la même date, seront exécutées par leurs Souverains respectifs en tous points, vis-à-vis des Etats de l'Association de Thuringe et de leurs sujets, comme entre les Gouvernemens Britannique et Prussien et leurs sujets.

HER Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and His Majesty the King of Prussia, having concluded at Berlin, on the 13th of May, 1846, a Convention for the reciprocal protection of Copyright against piracy; and having stipulated in Article VIII of that Convention, that those German States which, together with Prussia, compose the German Union of Customs, or which may hereafter join that Union, should have the right of acceding to the said Convention; Their Britannick and Prussian Majesties have addressed to the States forming the Thuringian Union, that is to say, His Royal Highness the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Their Royal Highnesses (Hoheiten) the Dukes of Saxe-Altenburg, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and Saxe-Meiningen, and Their Serene Highnesses the Princes of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, Reuss-Greitz, Reuss-Lobenstein-Eberdorf, and Reuss-Schleitz, the invitation to accede thereto;

And the said States being desirous of availing themselves of the opportunity thus afforded to them of acceding to the said Convention; The respective Plenipotentiaries, that is to say,

Met together for the purpose of recording in due form the Accession of Their said Royal and Serene Highnesses, as well as the Acceptance of the said Accession by Her Britannick Majesty and His Prussian Majesty.

The Plenipotentiary of His Royal Highness the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, as well as the Plenipotentiary of Their Royal Highnesses the Dukes of Saxe-Altenburg, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and Saxe-Meiningen, and of Their Serene Highnesses the Princes of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, Reuss-Greitz, ReussLobenstein-Ebersdorf, and Reuss-Schleitz, in consequence declare, in virtue of their full powers, that their said Royal and Serene Highnesses accede both to the Convention of the 13th May, 1846, containing Ten Articles, and of which a printed copy is annexed to the present Act, and to the special provisions contained in §§ 1-4 of the Separate Protocol signed on the same day, of which a copy is also hereunto annexed; promising that the stipulations of the said Convention, which shall come into operation in the States of the Thuringian Union from and after the 15th of July, 1847, as well as those of the Separate Protocol, shall be carried into execution by their said Royal and Serene Highnesses in all points, so far as they may be applicable to the relations which subsist between the States of the Thuringian Union and the British Government and its subjects; and declaring that English works registered, in virtue of Article II of the Convention, in the register-book kept at Berlin, shall be entitled also to protection against piracy in the said States.

The Plenipotentiaries of Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and of His Majesty the King of Prussia, in virtue of their full powers, accept the Accession of their said Royal and Serene Highnesses; promising that the stipulations of the Convention of the 13th of May, 1846, as well as the special provisions which are contained in the Protocol of the same date, shall be carried into execution by their respective Sovereigns in all points, with regard to the States of the Thuringian Union and their subjects, in the same manner as between the British and Prussian Governments and their subjects.

In witness whereof the respective Plenipotentiaries have signed the present Act, and have affixed thereto the seal of their arms.

Done at Berlin, the 1st of July, in the year of our Lord 1847.

L'ACTE d'Accession des Etats formant l'Association de Douanes Allemande dite de Thuringe, à la Convention conclue le 13 Mai, 1846, entre la Grande Bretagne et la Prusse, pour la protection réciproque du Droit d'Auteur, ayant été signé aujourd'hui par les Plénipotentiaires respectifs, le Soussigné, Envoyé Extraordinaire et Ministre Plénipotentiaire de Sa Majesté Britannique, en acceptant la proposition, suivant laquelle il suffira pour le moment, pour qu'un ouvrage Anglais trouve protection dans les Etats de la dite Association, qu'il ait été inscrit dans le registre tenu à Berlin, donne en même temps au nom de son Gouvernement l'assurance positive, que si à l'avenir plus qu'une autre ville encore, outre Berlin et Leipsic, serait choisie par les Membres du Zollverein accédant à la Convention du 13 Mai, 1846, pour l'inscription de livres Anglais à protéger contre la contrefaçon, la ville de Weimar serait également érigée en un lieu d'enregistrement.

THE Act of Accession of the States forming the Thuringian Union of German Customs, to the Convention concluded on the 13th of May, 1846, between Great Britain and Prussia, for the reciprocal protection of Copyright, having been this day signed by the respective Plenipotentiaries, the Undersigned, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of Her Britannic Majesty, in accepting the proposition, according to which it will for the present be sufficient for the purpose of securing protection to an English work within the States of the said Union, that it should have been registered in the Register-Book kept at Berlin, gives at the same time, in the name of his Government, the formal assurance, that if hereafter more than one other place, besides Berlin and Leipzig, should be selected by the Members of the Zollverein who may accede to the Convention of the 13th of May, 1846, for the registration of English books to be protected against piracy, the town of Weimar shall likewise be made a place of registration.

In making the present declaration, the Undersigned avails himself, &c.
