§ 9. τοιγαροῦν = καὶ γὰρ οὖν, save that τοί is intens. and και connective. ·ñâσaɩ ai móλeis, i. e. in Ionia. Cf. 1, 1, 6. - τοὺς Þeúyovras: cf. 1, 1, 7; 1, 2, 2. The exiles whom Cyrus refused to abandon were political enemies of the dominant party in Miletus; hence the ground of their fear.
