ALTHOUGH the Key to this work is one of a class that may often prove disadvantageous to the student, by tempting him to neglect the proper exercise of his own powers, that evil is probably very little to be feared in the present instance, as it may be naturally supposed that those students for whom the Author's Introduction to Précis-Writing is more especially designed are so earnestly desirous of acquiring skill and readiness in that species of composition, that they will not refer to the Key until they have employed their own best efforts in converting the prescribed exercises into the required forms.
