XVII. without pay cafe any wheat, wheal-meal or flour, rye, peafe, beans, barley, ment of duty, beer or bigg, oats or oat-meal, Indian corn or maize, fhall be imhoufed under ported into any town or port having a collector and comptroller certain regu of the customs, or into any other port that shall be approved by his Majefty, with the advice of his privy council, the fame, upon due entry thereof, may be forthwith landed from on board the fhip or veffel in which the fame fhall be fo imported, in the prefence of the proper officer or officers of the customs, without payment of any duty whatever; provided that an exact account be taken of the quantity thereof, and entered in a book to be kept by the proper officer of the customs of the faid ports, and that the fame fhall, upon landing, be immediately lodged and fecured, under the joint locks of the King and the importer or proprietor thereof, in fuch warehouses as fhall be fit for that purpose, to be provided at the fole expence of the importer or proprietor thereof, with the approbation and under the care and inspection of the commiffioners of the customs in England and Scotland refpectively, or the collector and comptroller of the port, where fuch corn, meal, or flour, fhall be imported; and fuch corn, meal, or flour, refpectively, fhall be under the care of the faid commiffioners of the customs, or the collector and comptroller of the customs, for the port where the fame shall be so imported, with liberty for the proprietor or proprietors, or his or their fervants, to screen, turn, and take fuch other care of the fame as neceffity fhall require, in the prefence of fome officer or officers of the customs, to be appointed and paid for that purpose by fuch commiffioners of the cuftoms, or the collector and comptroller of the port; and fuch corn, meal, or flour refpectively fhall not be delivered or taken out of any fuch warehoufe but upon the following conditions; (that is to fay), If the fame, or any part thereof, fhall be delivered in order to be used or confumed in this kingdom, and not first to be carried coaftwife to fome other port of this kingdom, where foreign corn of the fame fort may be imported on the low duties, the perfon or perfons fo taking out the fame fhall first pay down, in ready money, fuch duties as fhall at the time of taking out the fame be due or payable for the like fort of corn, meal, or flour, imported into the fame port from any foreign country whatever; and alfo, in addition to fuch duties, the feveral and respective duties fpecified in table D, under the name of the first low duties; and fuch corn, meal, or flour, refpectively, fhall be measured out from the warehouses, and fhall in all other refpects be liable to the fame reftrictions and regulations as the fame respectively would have been liable to if the fame had not been warehoused in pursuance of this act; and if any of the faid corn, meal, or flour, fo warehoused as aforefaid, fhall be delivered or taken out for exportation to foreign parts, or to be carried coaftwife to any other ports of this kingdom where foreign corn of the fame fort may be imported on the low duties, the owner or exporter thereof, together with the mafter or perfon having the charge or command of the fhip or veffel in which fuch corn, meal, or flour, are intended to be exported, and alfo with one other fufficient furety,

to be approved of by the collector and comptroller of the customs at the port of exportation, fhall enter into bond to his Majefty, his heirs and fucceffors, in treble the value thereof, with condition that no part of the fame fhall, if entered for exportation, be relanded in Great Britain, or, if entered to be carried coaftwife to any other port of this kingdom where foreign corn of the fame fort may be imported on the low duties, be landed at any other than fuch port, or at the islands of Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark, or Man, or the islands of Faro or Ferro; which bond fhall be discharged by fuch certificate as is herein-before required with refpect to corn and other articles exported on bounty within the times there fpecified, as the cafe may happen to be; and fuch bonds may also be discharged, on proof made, to the fatisfaction of the commiffioners of the cuftoms in England and Scotland for the time being, refpectively, that fuch corn or other articles were taken by enemies, or perifhed in the fea.

XX.
