Specific ap CHAPTER CXXXI. AN ACT making additional appropriations for the military establishment and for the Indian Depart ment for the year one thousand eight hundred and twelve. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That for defraying the expenses incurred and to be incurred under the several acts entitled "An act to establish a quarter master's department and for other purposes," and an act to amend the same, "An act making further provision for the corps of engineers," and "An act making further provision for the army of the United States," for the Indian department and for satisfying certain outstanding claims, there be, and hereby is appropriated, to be paid out of any monies in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, in addition to the sums already appropriated for the said objects repectively, the following sums, that is to say: For the pay of the army, seventy-two thoupropriations. sand five hundred and ninety-six dollars. For forage, four thousand seven hundred and twenty-two dollars. For subsistence, six thousand two hundred and fifty dollars. For clothing, three-thousand seven hundred and forty-five dollars. For clerk hire and stationery, in the offices of the quarter master general and commissary general of purchases, three thousand one hundred and fifty dollars. For the salary of the commissary general of purchases and compensations of the deputy commissaries, six thousand five hundred dol lars. For contingent expenses of the Indian Department, comprising the employment of Specific aptemporary agents, presents to the Indians, propriations. and transportation, twenty thousand dol lars. For the payment of such balances as have been or may be ascertained from actual settlements made by the Accountant of the Department of War, and which cannot be dis charged out of any existing appropriations, five thousand dollars. AN ACT fixing the time for the next meeting of BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That after the adjournment of the present session, the next meeting of Congress shall be on the first Monday of November next, H. AN ACT respecting the pay of the Army of the BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That the officers, non-commissioned officers musicians, and privates of the army of the United States shall receive the same pay, forage, rations, clothing, and other emoluments, as the officers of the same grade and corps, noncommissioned officers, musicians, and pri vates, are entitled to by the act, entitled "An act to raise for a limited time an additional military force," passed April twelfth, one thousand eight hundred and eight; and to the aid de camp of a brigadier, to a brigade quarter master, brigade inspector and adjutant, there shall be allowed forage for one horse only, or in lieu thereof ten dollars per month; and to the brigade majors, under the act passed January the eleventh, one thousand eight hundred and twelve, there shall be allowed forage for one horse, or in lieu thereof ten dollars per month; and the pay of a quarter-master sergeant shall be nine dollars per month. CHAPTER CXXXIV. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the assignee or assignees of any original purcha ser of land from the United States, the lands being purchased prior to the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eight, shall be entitled to the benefit of the provisions of the act, to which this act is a supplement, and the last preceding section, in every case where it shall appear to the satisfaction of the register and receiver of public monies of the district within which the land assignees of original pur chasers of land from the United led to the benefits of States enti this act. Sec 3. And be it further enacted, That in every case where any tract or tracts of land purchased prior to the first day of April. one thousand eight hundred and eight, not exceeding six hundred and forty acres, unless such tact shall come within the provi ion of the first section of this act, has since the first day of April last, reverted, or nited States that may before the first day of August next. revert to the United States, for default of payment: the person or persons claiming such tract or tracts, whether as an assignee or an original purchaser, may again re enter the same: and all monies which such assignee or original purchaser may have paid shail be replaced to his credit, by the regis ter and receiver of public monies of the district in which the lands may lie, and such repurchaser or repurchasers shall be allowed the same benefit of the extension of the time of payment, provided by the act to which this is a supplement, as though no such reversion had occured; provided such assignee or assignees, original purchaser or pur chasers shall make to the proper land offi cer app! cation for such re entry on or before the first day of September next, and that the |
