A BILL ΤΟ Amend the Laws relating to the Election of Magistrates and Councillors in the Royal Burghs of Scotland. [Note.-The Word printed in Italics are proposed to be inserted W Sect. 5. HEREAS by an Act passed in the Second and Third Years Preamble. of the Reign of His late Majesty King William the Fourth, intituled "An Act to amend the Representation of the People 3 & 4 W. 4. " of Scotland," it is enacted, inter alia, "that the Limits and Bounda- c. 65. 5" ries of all the Cities, Burghs, and Towns enumerated in any of the "above-mentioned Schedules shall, for the Purposes of this Act, be “taken and held to be according to the Description and Specification of "such Limits and Boundaries set forth and contained in Schedule (M.) "to this Act annexed; and all the Properties within the Boundaries 10" therein specified shall hereafter, for the Purposes of this Act, be "Parts of the said Cities, Burghs, and Towns, and not of the adjoining 66 or of any other County:" And it is by the said Statute further enacted, "that every Person, not subject to any legal Incapacity, shall be entitled to be registered as herein-after directed, and to vote at 15" Elections for any of the Cities, Burghs, and Towns, or Districts of "Cities, Burghs, or Towns herein-before mentioned, who, when the "Sheriff proceeds to consider his Claim for Registration, shall have "been for a Period of not less than Twelve Calendar Months next "previous 910.
