1882, and the Municipal Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Practices) Act, 1884, similarly apply. Any of these elections can therefore be questioned by petition, and candidates and others, if guilty of corrupt or illegal practices, are liable to severe penalties.

The recently-issued Orders containing a scale of expenses of the returning officer at elections under the Local Government Act, 1894, and regulating a poll consequent on a parish meeting in every parish which is not entitled to elect a parish council, have been added in Appendix IV. The other Orders of the Local Government Board are set out in Appendix II.

A collection of Statutes is given in Appendix I., and a large number of Forms in Appendix III. Tables of the Statutes and Cases cited will be found.

Mr. C. WILLOUGHBY WILLIAMS, of Lincoln's Inn, has again been of great service in the preparation of this edition, and the Editor gratefully acknowledges his constant and able assistance.
