The CANTICLE of ZACHARY. Luke i. LESSED be the Lord the God of Israel; for he hath visited and ransomed his people.

And he hath raised up a powerful Saviour + for us, *in the house of his servant David.

As he promised by the mouth of his holy ones, * his Prophets from the beginning:

To save us from our enemies; and from the hands of all who hate us.

To act mercy with our fathers:* and keep in mind his holy covenant.

The oath which he swore to our father Abraham; * that he would grant us.

That being delivered from the hands of our enemies, we should, without fear, serve him.

With holiness and righteousness in his sight,* all our days.

And thou, Ochild, shalt be called the Prophet of the most High: * for thou shalt go before the face of the the Lord to prepare his ways.

To give his people the knowledge of salvation * for the remission of their

sins.
