I am, however, very far from prefuming to fuppofe, that I have carried this Art to its ne plus ultra, or highest point of Perfection. On the contrary, I fhall deem myself exceedingly obliged to any Gentleman, who will honour me with a Communication of fuch farther Improvements, as may, hereafter, occur.

I likewife request Leave to embrace this Opportunity of rendering my unfeigned Acknowledgements to the PUBLIC, in general; and to the Gentlemen of the LAW, in particular; for their candid Reception of the many Trials, and Arguments of Counfel, which have, for a fucceffion of Years past, been printed from my Short-hand Notes. And I will very willingly explain, in perfon, to any Purchaser of this Book, whatever he may not immediately comprehend. Letters also (poft paid, mentioning the Number of the Book) ftating fuch Difficulties as may arife, fhall be duly attended to..
