Hannes H. Gissurarson is Professor Emeritus at the University of Iceland, the author of several books and a columnist for The Conservative, the online magazine of the conservative and reformist parties of Europe. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Hoover Institution in California, LUISS in Rome, and several other universities and think tanks around the world. He was on the Board of Directors of the Mont Pelerin Society in 1998–2004 and on the Board of Overseers at the Central Bank of Iceland in 2001–2009. In 2024, his Oxford college, Pembroke, on its 400th anniversary chose him as one of the 400 notables of the college.
