Amend the Medical Act, 1858, so far as relates to the regis- A.D. 1876. tration of women who have taken the degree of Doctor of Medicine in a foreign University.

WHEREAS under the provisions of the Medical Act, 1858, a

woman who had taken the degree of doctor of medicine in a foreign or colonial university, and had practised as a physician in the United Kingdom before the passing of the Act, was qualified 5 to be registered:

And whereas it is expedient that any woman who possesses the degree of doctor of medicine of a foreign university may be entitled to be registered, although she has not practised as a physician in the United Kingdom before the first day of October 10 one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight:

Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title.

3. This Act may be cited for all purposes as the Medical Act (Foreign Universities), 1876, and shall be construed as one with 5 the Medical Acts.
