Michael Bruchis examines traditional Russian policies toward Moldavia in their historic analysis of the historic evolution of the Moldavians east of the Prut River, and the first edition of the book looks at the impact of Gorbachev's Pestrokia on Soviet Moldavia in the post-communist period. The second section analyzes Russian policies toward Moldaliva in the post-communist period; the conclusion examines changes--if any--that occurred in the Russian treatment of Moldavia, pre and post-communism.
