In reply, will say that I can not arrange my affairs so that I can

attend this Reunion.

Wishing you a pleasant and enjoyable time,

Very sincerely yours,

WM. MCADAMS,

Late 2d Lieut. Co. H, 59th Ill. Vols.

FROM PRIVATE F. I. BARNES.

FORT CUSTER, MONTANA, September 8, 1890.

COLONEL H. S. BUNKER.

COMRADE:

Received the invitation to attend the Twenty-first Annual Reunion of the Army of the Cumberland, to be held at Toledo, Ohio, September 17 and 18, 1890.

I much regret my inability to attend and meet my old comrades of former years. It is owing to my present military duties that keeps me from meeting with you; yet my heart is with you, as from 1861 to 1865.

Yours in F. C. and L.,

.

FRANCIS I. BARNES,

Co. D, 25th Infantry.

(Late Private Co. A, 14th R. I. H. A.)
