THIS Volume is intended to contain such Acts of Parliament, or portions of Acts, now in force, as concern in some especial way the two Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, or either of those bodies, or any of their Colleges. In compiling it, the rule of selection has been to print those enactments only which have their application clearly shewn by the term "College" or "University" or some other academical word occurring in them. An exception to this rule, apparent rather than real, may be found, whenever any Act extending or modifying some previous enactment, which was couched in precise language, is itself expressed in general terms. But two real exceptions to it have been admitted, 39 Geo. 3, c. 73, and 3 & 4 Will. 4, c. 31; because these |
