The increase of business rendered enlargement imperative, the staff having trebled since the office was first occupied.

The building has been extended over some spare ground at the back and other measures taken.

The enlargement of the Factory rendered necessary a re-arrangement of benching in the older portion of the Building,

and the provision of additional Fittings and Furniture.

The lease of the former office having been terminated by the landlord, other premises had to be taken and adapted for

official use.

The increase in the business transacted at this office rendered enlarged accommodation imperative. Some rooms formerly

sub-let have been adapted for official purposes and other alterations made.

Due to extra pressure of business at Christmas.

The accommodation was insufficient, and the sanitary condition unsatisfactory. Extension and improvement were

imperative.

Alterations had to be undertaken with a view to affording more space for sorting work, the need for which was very

urgent.

The heating arrangements were unsatisfactory; fire places have been introduced and the chimney stack increased in

height. The bulk of the expenditure falls upon the year 1906-7.

This work had to be carried out in order to provide much-needed additional accommodation.
