5 BE A BILL [AS AMENDED IN COMMITTEE] ΤΟ Amend the Laws relating to Seduction. E it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: A.D. 1873. 1. This Act may be cited as the Seduction Laws Amendment Short title. Act, 1873. of sections 2. Sections fifty and fifty-one of an Act passed in the twenty- Repeal fourth and twenty-fifth years of the reign of Her Majesty, chapter 50 and 51 one hundred, intituled "An Act to consolidate and amend the of 24 & 25 10" Statute Law of England and Ireland relating to Offences against Vict. c. 100. "the Person," are hereby repealed, except as to anything heretofore duly done thereunder, and except so far as may be necessary in order to continue any proceeding that may have been taken before the commencement of this Act. 15 twelve years of age. 3. Whosoever shall unlawfully and carnally know and abuse any Abusing a girl under the age of twelve years shall be guilty of felony, and, girl under being convicted thereof, shall be liable at the discretion of the court to be kept in penal servitude for life, or for any term not less than five years, or to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding two 20 years, with or without hard labour. 25 4. Whosoever shall unlawfully and carnally know and abuse, or attempt to carnally know and abuse, any girl under the age of twelve years, shall be liable, at the discretion of the court, to be whipped in addition to any other sentence. 5. This Act shall not extend to Scotland. Whipping may be added to other punishment if the girl is under twelve years old. Extent of |
