O the depth of the riches 2 both of the wisdom and 33 the wisdom the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgements, and his ways past tracing out! For who 34 2 Or, both of wisdom &c. hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? or who hath first given to him, and it 35 shall be recompensed unto him again? And be not fashioned according to this world: 2 but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

For I say, through the grace that was given me, to 3 every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but so to think acceptable as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to und perfect. each man a measure of faith. For even as we have 4 many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office: so we, who are many, are 5 one body in Christ, and severally members one of another. And having gifts differing according to the 6 grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; or 7 ministry, let us give ourselves to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching; or he that exhorteth, to 8 his exhorting: he that giveth, let him do it with 10 liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without hypocrisy. 9 Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to 10 ancient au- another; in honour preferring one another; in diligence 11 not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; re- 12 joicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing stedfastly in prayer; communicating to the necessities 13 of the saints; 12 given to hospitality. But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire 21 upon his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the powers that 2 be are ordained of God. Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God: and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judge3 ment. For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have 4 praise from the same: for he is a minister of God to Or, it. thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for 4 he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that 5 doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience 6 sake. For for this cause ye pay tribute also; for they are ministers of God's service, attending continually 7 upon this very thing. Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

But him that is weak in faith receive ye, yet not to 14 doubtful disputations. One man hath faith to eat all 2 things but he that is weak eateth herbs. Let not 3 him that eateth set at nought him that eateth not; and let not him that eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. Who art thou that judgest 4 servant of another? to his own lord he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be made to stand; for the Lord hath power to make him stand. One man 5 esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth 6 it unto the Lord: and he that eateth, eateth unto the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, unto the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. For none of us liveth to himself, and none 7 dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto 8 the Lord; or whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died, and lived again, that he 9 might be Lord of both the dead and the living. But 10 thou, why dost thou judge thy brother? or thou again, why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgement-seat of God. For it is 11 written,

As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall

bow,
And every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge ye this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock in his brother's way, or an occasion of falling. 14 I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: save that to him who accounteth any thing to be unclean, to him it is un15 clean. For if because of meat thy brother is grieved, thou walkest no longer in love. Destroy not with thy 16 meat him for whom Christ died. Let not then your 17 good be evil spoken of: for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace 18 and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that herein serveth Christ is well-pleasing to God, and approved of 19 men.
