MONDAY, JANUARY 11, 1897.

The Senate met according to adjournment.

The reading of the journal having been commenced, on motion of Senator Scott, the rules were so far suspended that its further reading was dispensed with.

On motion of Senator Emmons, the Senate adjourned.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 12, 1897.

The Senate met according to adjournment.

The journal was read and approved.

The following message was received from the House of Representatives by its clerk.

HOUSE MESSAGE.

Mr. President:

The House of Representatives has adopted the following concurrent resolution, in which the concurrence of the Honorable Senate is requested:

Resolved, by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring, That a committee of three on the part of the House be appointed to confer with a like committee on the part of the Senate, to make assignment of rooms to the various committees and employees of both branches of the legislature.

The House names as members of such committee on the part of the House, Messrs. Little of Manchester, Pillsbury of Londonderry, and Shirley of Andover.

On motion of Senator Scott, the resolution was concurred in. The President appointed as members of such committee, on the part of the Senate, Senators Scott, Liscom, Emery.

Senator Jordan, of District No. 1, gave notice that on tomorrow, or some subsequent day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to enable Lancaster academy to unite with, and become merged in, Union School District No. 1, of Lancaster."

The same Senator gave notice that on tomorrow, or some subsequent day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to authorize the town of Lancaster to issue certain bonds."

On motion of Senator Scott, the Senate adjourned.

AFTERNOON.

On motion of Senator Buxton, the Senate voted to take a recess until 3.30 o'clock.

The Senate having reassembled, on motion of Senator Liscom, the Senate adjourned.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 1897.

The Senate met according to adjournment.

The journal was read and approved.

The following message was received from the House of Representatives by its clerk:

HOUSE MESSAGE.

Mr. President:

The House of Representatives has adopted the following resolutions:

Resolved, That Rev. Frank L. Phalen be elected chaplain of the House of Representatives, for the present session.

Resolved, That prayers be offered in the House five minutes before the hour fixed for the first session each day, and that His Excellency the Governor, the Council, and the Honorable Senate be informed thereof, and invited to attend.

On motion of Senator Richards, this invitation was accepted.

Senator Durgin, of District No. 23, gave notice that on tomorrow, or some subsequent day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to revive the charter of the Newmarket Electric Light, Power, and Heat Company."

Senator Kennett, of District No. 5, gave notice that on tomorrow, or some subsequent day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Conway Electric Light, Power, and Heat Company."

On motion of Senator Scott, the Senate adjourned.

AFTERNOON.

Senator Wentworth, of District No. 20, gave notice that on tomorrow, or some subsequent day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to protect moose, caribou, and deer, and providing for the disposition of fish and game captured or taken from persons who have illegally taken the same."

Senator Kennett, of District No. 5, gave notice that on tomorrow, or some subsequent day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act in amendment of section 12 of chapter 141 of the Public Statutes, relating to liens of mechanics and others."

Senator Wentworth, of District No. 20, gave notice that on tomorrow, or some subsequent day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend section 16, chapter 130; sections 1, 3, 4, and 5 of chapter 131; sections 2 and 9 of chapter 132, and section 4 of chapter 133 of the Public Statutes of New Hampshire, relative to fish and game."

On motion of Senator Hastings, the Senate adjourned.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 1897.

The Senate met according to adjournment.

The journal was read and approved.

The following message was received from the House of Representatives by its clerk.

Mr. President:

HOUSE MESSAGE.

The House of Representatives has adopted the following resolutions:

Resolved, That the Honorable Senate be notified that the House of Representatives will meet the Senate in joint convention, at 12 o'clock noon, Thursday, January 14, for the purpose of electing a secretary of state, state treasurer, and public printer.

On motion of Senator Scott, the Senate voted to meet the House of Representatives in joint convention.

Senator Scott made the following report for the special committee on the assignment of rooms:

Resolved, That the assignment of rooms to the standing committees of the Senate and the joint standing committees and employees of the Senate and House be as follows:
