The Father's Prayer. Then Jairus came to Jesus, and fell down at His feet, and begged Him, saying, "My little daughter is lying at the point of death: I pray Thee, come and lay Thy hands upon her, that she may be healed."

Jesus Goes to the House.-Then Jesus arose and went with him, and so did His disciples. And many other people followed them,

The Child Dead.-While they were on the way, some people came from the ruler of the synagogue's house, and said to him, "Thy daughter is now dead; why troublest thou the Master any further?"

Words of Comfort-But when Jesus heard what they said, He said to the ruler of the synagogue," Be not afraid, only believe."

In the House.-When they came to the house, Jesus would let no one follow Him into it, but Peter and James and John. They found a great many people there, who were weeping and wailing and making a great noise. Then Jesus said to them, “Why are you making all this ado, and weeping? The maid is not dead, but is sleeping." And they laughed Him

to scorn.

The Dead Child Raised to Life.-But Jesus had all the people put out. Then He took the father and mother of the child with Him and His three disciples, and went in where the little girl was. He took her hand, and said to her, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise." She arose at once and walked. And when the people saw what Jesus had done, they were filled with astonishment.
