Mr. Barnes, pursuant to notice given on Saturday last, had leave to introduce a bill entitled, An act to establish the place for keeping the office of Register of Probate, in and for the county of Merrimack.

Which was read a first and second time.

On motion of Mr. Barnes-

Ordered, That it he referred to a select committee, to consist of the delegation from the county of Merrimack.

On motion of Mr. Aldrich

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled, An act to apportion and distribute the arms now in the arsenal at Portsmouth among the militia.

Which was read a second time.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Military affairs. Mr. Carroll, from the committee on Incorporations, to whom was referred the petition of Jeremiah Eames and others, by leave of the House reported a bill entitled, An act to incorporate the Trustees, of Colebrook Academy in Colebrook.

Which was read a first and second time.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Bills on their second reading.

On motion of Mr. Wentworth of Sandwich

The House resumed the consideration of the resolution, in relation to the expediency of abolishing imprisonment for debt. Which was read.

On motion of Mr. Gove of Goffstown-

Ordered, That it lie on the table.

On motion of Mr. Murray

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled, An act to remove the several terms of the Court of Common Pleas and Superior Court of Judicature, from the town of Exeter to Chester. Which was read a second time.

On motion of Mr. Murray-

Ordered, That it be referred to a select committee, to consist of the delegation of the county of Rockingham.

Pursuant to notice given on Friday last, Mr. Atwood moved That the vote indefinitely postponing the bill entitled, An act to sev er a tract of land from the town of Andover, and annex the same to the town of Franklin, be now reconsidered

But before the question was taken,

Mr. Hale moved, That the House do now adjourn.

Which was decided in the negative.

The question recurred, Shall said vote be reconsidered?

On this question the yeas and nays. were required by Mr.

Sawyer of Swanzey.

Those who voted in the affirmative are

So the vote was not reconsidered.

WEDNESDAY DEC. 12, 1832.

Mr. French presented the petition of Nathaniel B. Cutter and others, for the formation of a rifle company.

Mr. Corbin presented the petition of James Beck and others, for a company of riflemen to be attached to the 31st regiment of the N. H. militia.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Military af. fairs.

Mr. Sawyer from the committee on the Judiciary, to whom was referred the bill entitled, An act for the preservation of bridges, reported the same with an amendment, which was read and adopted.

On motion of Mr. Barnes

Resolved, That said bill be indefinitely postponed.

Mr. Gove from the committee on Roads, Bridges and Canals, to whom was referred the petition of Ebenezer Eastman and others, reported a bill entitled, An act to incorporate the proprietors of Sewall's Falls Bridge.

Which was read a first and second time.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Bills on their second reading.

Mr. Nesmith from the committee on Bills on their second reading, to whom was referrred the bill entitled, An act for the preservation of highways and bridges, reported the same without amend

ment.

On motion of Mr. Laws-

Resolved, That said bill be indefinitely postponed.

Mr. Symmes from the committee on Incorporations, to whom was referred the petition of Ebenezer Gove and others, made a report; whereupon,

Resolved, That the petitioners have leave to bring in a bill.

Mr. French from the committee on Towns and Parishes, to whom was referred the bill entitled, An act to annex Winslow's Location

to Piercy, and also, the remonstrance of Benjamin Smith and others, reported said bill without amendment.

Ordered, That said bill be read a third time to-morrow at 10 o'clock forenoon.

Mr. Kimball from the committee on bills on their second read. ing, to whom was referred the resolution granting a certain tract of land to Abel Crawford, reported the same in a new draft as follows:

Whereas, by a resolution of the Legislature of this State, passed at its June session 1828, a certain tract of land in the county of Coos, situated between Nash and Sawyer's Location on the north, and Hart's Location on the south, was granted to Crawford; and the treasurer of this State, was authorized to convey the same to said Crawford, on condition that said Crawford should, prior to receiving a deed thereof, pay into the treasury of this State, the sum of seventy-four dollars, as a compensation for said land.

And whereas the said Abel Crawford having failed to comply with the condition of said resolve, now prays the Legislature, to grant him the privilege of paying said sum in labor, to be laid out in improving the public highways, in the town of Carroll.

Therefore, Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened, That the treasurer of this State, be directed to convey to Abel Crawford of Hart's Location, in the county of Coos, all the right and title, which this State has to the land before mentioned and described, on condition that the said Abel Crawford, shall within one year from the passing of this resolution, cause that the said sum of seventy-four dollars, together with the interest on the same, from the twentieth day of June 1828, to the twentieth day of October 1833, be faithfully laid out and expended on the public highways in said town of Carroll, at such times, and in such place or places, as Asa Taylor of Dalton, and Joseph Colby of Whitefield, Esquires, shall direct, and shall also exhibit to the said treasurer, a certificate under the hands of the said Taylor and Colby, that the sum aforesaid together with the interest as aforesaid, have been fully laid out and expended agreeably to the provisions of this resolution, and to their satisfaction.

And be it further resolved, that if the said Abel Carwford shall neglect, for the term of twelve months from and after the passing of this resolution, to perform the conditions herein contained, then this resolution and the resolution before mentioned, which was passed in June 1828, shall be inoperative and of no effect.

Which was read a first time.

Ordered, That said bill be read a second time to-morrow at 11 o'clock, forenoon.

Mr. Sanborn pursuant to the report of a committee introduced a bill

entitled, An act to incorporate sundry persons by the name of the Wentworth Mechanick Asociation.

Which was read a first and second time.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Bills on their second reading.

Mr. Gordon by leave of the House presented the remonstance of Nathaniel Morrill and others, against the petition of William Claggett and others, for a bridge over the Piscataqua River.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on the Judiciary. Mr. Frost pursuant to notice given on Monday last, had leave to introduce a bill entitled, An act for taxing locks and canals. Which was read a first and second time.

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled, An act for the suppression of frauds and cheats.

Resolved, That said bill be considered on its second reading. On motion of Mr. Hale-

The bill was amended by striking out the word "forty" in the twelfth line, and inserting the word "five."

On motion of Mr. Gove of Goffstown--

On motion of Mr. Harriman--

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled, An act to sever a part of the town of Warner, and annex the same to Bradford.

Mr. Harriman moved certain amendments to said bill which were read; but before the question was taken for their adoption, On motion of Mr. Barnes

Ordered, That said bill and amendments be referred to the committee on Towns and Parishes.

On motion of Mr. Wilson of Keene-

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled, An act to establish the rate at which polls and rateable estate shall be valued in making direct taxes.
